Unfold Counter Privacy Policy

Unfold Counter Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 4, 2026

In short: Unfold Counter does not collect, store on a server, share or sell any of your data. Everything the app records stays on your iPhone.

1. Who I am

Unfold Counter ("the app") is an iOS app made by Alex Barrera ("I", "me"). It counts how often you open and close your iPhone Duo and shows you statistics and widgets about it.

2. Data the app collects

None. I do not collect any personal information or usage data. Specifically, the app:

  • has no accounts, sign-in or registration;
  • contains no analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting tools from me or from third parties;
  • does not send any information to me or to any server;
  • does not use your location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera.

3. Data that stays on your device

To work, the app keeps a log of timestamps of when your phone was opened and closed. This log is saved only on your iPhone, in storage shared between the app and its widgets. It is never transmitted anywhere by the app. The app also stores your settings, such as your theme choice.

The hinge-angle tile reads the angle of your phone's hinge from the device while the app is open. The reading is shown on screen and is not saved or sent anywhere.

You can erase all of this data at any time by deleting the app from your iPhone.

4. Apple Shortcuts

The app relies on automations that you create in Apple's Shortcuts app. Those automations run on your device and tell Unfold Counter when your phone opens or closes. Shortcuts is a product of Apple and is covered by Apple's own privacy policy. If you import the shortcuts through an iCloud link, Apple handles that download.

5. Apple services

If you installed the app through TestFlight or the App Store, Apple may collect information about your installation and, if you have agreed to it in your iOS settings, crash reports or diagnostics that it can share with developers. I don't control this, and the app does not add to it. Your device backups, such as iCloud Backup, may also include the app's data under your own Apple settings.

6. Children

The app is not directed at children, and it does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.

7. Changes to this policy

If the app ever changes in a way that affects your privacy, I will update this page and the "Last updated" date before the change reaches you. The app will never start collecting data without you being clearly told first.
